Weather Warnings were Issued for 13 States. 6 feet of Snow were on the Way
Several states have issued weather warnings this week amid fears of treacherous conditions due to winter’s icy grip.
Snow accumulations of up to 6 feet are predicted just days before Thanksgiving. New Mexico, Maine, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Vermont, Michigan, Alaska, New York, Idaho, Maine, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming are also under warnings.
Several storms have battered Americans this winter. Water vapor and a bomb cyclone collided last week to whip up a fierce winter storm that pounded those on higher ground with snow.
According to the forecast for this week, cold weather will continue to pose a serious threat to travelers. Colorado has many warnings covering mountain hikers and higher ground.

The Sangre de Cristo Mountains could accumulate up to 26 inches of snow, with wind speeds of 55 mph. Strong winds and blowing snow could make travel difficult to impossible; visibility could be affected.
Trees and power lines could be damaged. Local weather reports are the best source of up-to-date information regarding the numerous warnings.
In California, residents who live above ground have been warned. Forecasters predict up to 6 feet of snow in the Sierra Nevada. A slippery road and bridge may make travel difficult or impossible.
NWS Reno also issued a warning for the Greater Lake Tahoe area, which extends into Nevada from California. Nevada residents in Stateline and Glenbrook are affected.
The Wasatch Mountains, Western Uinta Mountains, Wasatch Plateau/Book Cliffs, Central Mountains, and Southern Mountains are also under warning.
There may be up to 20 inches of snow in the Manti Skyline and Tushar Mountains, so people traveling over mountain passes today should be prepared for difficulties. La Sal and Abajo Mountains are also warned.

Bear River Ranges are expected to experience up to 12 inches of snow, but the NWS warns that visibility may be poor at times and the conditions could impact commutes Tuesday morning and evening.
Snow accumulations of 24 inches are expected in Wyoming’s Snowy Range. Weather warnings may also be issued in higher areas, depending on local forecasts.
Weather warnings are in place for parts of northern New York, central, northeast, northwest, and southern Vermont. Ice is expected to accumulate, resulting in dangerous conditions, including rain and snow.
Michigan’s Chippewa and Mackinac counties also have snowy road hazards. Check local reports frequently if other counties around the state are also affected.
As snow accumulates in Alaska’s upper Chena River Valley, travel will become even more hazardous in already snowy areas. As in the White Mountains, higher elevations around the Yukon River will be affected.
NWS weather warnings are in effect for parts of central and northern Maine and New Hampshire tomorrow. Even though ice amounts are low, freezing rain will fall on cold bare pavement.
In untreated roads, glaze ice may form, leading to unsafe travel. Even light snowfall amounts can accumulate on roads and cause dangerous driving conditions. Tuesday morning commute may be affected by hazardous conditions.”
In New Mexico, weather warnings cover the Tusas Mountains. During mountain passes, tire chains may be necessary. Weather warnings and travel advice are available on local weather reports in all states.
