Police Receive Calls as a Result of Snowy Weather
The Moose Jaw Police Service received several calls this week due to the deluge of snow. This is likely a direct result of the weather.
As reported by the police, two vehicles collided on Tuesday, taking place on 4th Avenue NW at Caribou Street, injuring four, causing $20,000 in damages, the towing of two vehicles, and the issuance of two tickets in the process.
Several vehicles have been removed from the roadway in the past 24 hours, including a semi that impeded Diefenbaker Drive at Highland Road, a car that was towed out of a ditch by another vehicle on the 1200 block of 9th Ave NE, as well as a semi that was removed yesterday.
There was a semi that got stuck on the North Service Road this morning and had to be moved to make way for emergency vehicles.
Incidents Related to Weather Increase
Vehicle accidents have been caused by icy roads, poor visibility, and accumulated snow. Traffic police are urging motorists to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel. Snowbanks, skidding vehicles, and fender-benders are common incidents.
The police spokesperson said, “We’ve seen a significant increase in calls since it snowed.” However, we urge the public to remain safe and avoid risky situations.”

- Dress warmly: Whenever possible, wear insulated clothing, hats, and gloves.
- Report Hazards: Immediately inform authorities if power lines are down or roads are blocked.
Community Support
Snow removal resources are being provided by local governments for those affected by power outages. Helping neighbors clear their driveways and sidewalks is a volunteer effort.
