CSIA Hall of Fame inducts Magician and Canmore ski instructor
The weather is brisk but the snow is blue, so a beginner gets a feel for controlling their turns and managing speed levels on skis. It takes tumbles and falls to learn.
Typically, at a bunny hill, a newcomer’s first contact is with a ski instructor who explains techniques and answers questions about their equipment.
Slope specialists can turn novices into lifelong skiers, and bad lessons can end their careers before they ever begin.

Jobsbitt of Canmore has been mentoring ski instructors for decades, redefining the image of the sport in North America and abroad.
CSIA Hall of Fame inductee Jobbitt is a highly respected and sought-after mentor. Ski instructors in Canada are members of the CSIA.
Jobst’s enthusiasm and commitment to the sport land him in two Hall of fame categories. In a 35-year career, he has helped tens of thousands of students go from beginners to World Cup gold medalists.
“There’s nothing better than starting the day with someone who is struggling to get down and then suddenly finds it. Jobbitt said, “That’s pretty cool.”.
Jobbitt is a Level 4 CSIA Course Conductor and Course Conductor trainer, making him among Canada’s most competent and experienced ski instructors. Skiers and instructors of all levels can train with him.
Served on both the Regional & National Technical Committee of CSIA. Jobbitt was the director of Club Ski’s Snow School. His coaching experience includes two years on the Interski team.

Growing up in an active ski community, Jobbitt developed a passion for skiing. Family members also played. Liz dropped him and his siblings off at the ski hill’s daycare.
More than 35 years ago, he came to Banff to be a ski instructor. When Jobbitt arrived, opportunities arose and the rest is history.
He said he won’t forget December 6, the date he got the job at Sunshine Village.
A training academy for ski instructors, Warren Jobbitt Snowsports Academy, is Jobbitt’s own business.
Five years ago, Jobbitt broke his leg skiing. Nevertheless, the veteran skier learned from the lessons, slowing down and better understanding the physics of the sport.
Jobbitt said, “The further I get, the more aware I get of today’s equipment, its workings, its biomechanics, and also its learning principles and motor skills development.”
My saying is, “It is only by changing your thinking that you will change your skiing.”
Among Jobbitt’s professional connections is ski cross World Cup gold medalist Kris Mahler, who describes him as a phenomenal skier and coach.
Jobbitt is also mentoring Suzanne FitzGerald, who approached him when she had trouble getting a CSIA Level 3 certification.

FitzGerald praised him for his technical skills. Skiing was challenging for me because I had technical difficulties. It kept failing. “He fixed it within three runs. He’s quite a magician.”
Nakiska’s development-level coach, FitzGerald supervises the U8-U10 program. Mentoring about 35 junior ski instructors. Her habits have been influenced by Jobbitt after working with him for four seasons.

Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise will host the CSIA Hall of Fame ceremony on Nov. 27. Over 20,000 members make up the long-standing non-profit. The honor humbles Jobbitt.
Some Hollywood movies portray ski instructors as unreal jobs. Getting good at it seems easy. Ski teaching isn’t a profession unless you’re a ski instructor, joked Jobbitt. Despite that.
Jobbitt encourages his students to share their passion for sports when teaching them.
Jobbitt said, “I’ve recently come up with this message: You can do this sport forever.” “You can still inspire people to start, even as they get older, or to keep learning because you can always improve,” he said.
