Calgary to Receive a Blast of Snow on Saturday, and 15-25 cm by Sunday
Calgary is under a snowfall warning for the second time in less than a week, prompting city plows to focus on priority routes.
Calgary can expect snow for an extended period, with anywhere from 15 to 25 centimeters falling, with precipitation peaking on Saturday.
Snowfall warnings are in effect across a large area of Alberta, including Medicine Hat, Crowsnest Pass, the U.S. border, and Slave Lake.
Environment Canada predicted five to 10 centimeters of precipitation in southern Alberta by Saturday morning, with ten to twenty centimeters more expected by Saturday evening.
Eastern Alberta could experience worse weather, with total accumulations reaching 35 centimeters, the weather office said in an updated warning.
Snowfall was expected to reach 25 centimeters in other regions when the snowfall warning was issued.
Calgary Snowfall Should end by Sunday Morning
Christy Climenhaga, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, said: “Our normal snowfall for November is 18 to 19 centimetres and we’ve had an easy time of it.”.
For humans at a given moment, all we are experiencing right now is mild weather.

Throughout November, Frigid Conditions are Expected
Throughout Alberta, the weather will be cooler through the first few days of December and then we’ll start getting some relief,” said Climenhaga.
In general, we should have cooler weather for the next week or so.”City of Calgary resets snow clearing schedule.
Snowfall forecasts were quite reasonable for us, said Chris Hewitt, city mobility maintenance manager.
According to the snow plan, priority one roads such as Macleod Trail and Crowchild Trail will not be impacted.
First, crews work on priority two roads, including high-volume community streets and transit routes like Acadia Drive and Kensington Road.

Considering it was early in the season, there weren’t any major concerns with that area,” Hewitt said. There’s nothing further along in the program we’ve had to stop. Let’s stay on the priority ones.”
The preparations for Monday’s snowfall can help prepare for this weekend’s predicted precipitation, he said.
Hewitt noted that when we have consecutive snowstorms, the material is already down, so we don’t need to do additional prep work.
Detours are Activated by Calgary Transit at 8 p.m Today
Calgary Transit, which operates city buses, started snow detours Friday at 8 p.m. to prevent them from getting stuck on snowy streets.
When planning and implementing snow detours, Calgary Transit takes into account many factors, including bus reliability, feedback from customers, and insights from staff.
Furthermore, Calgary Transit says buses may not stop on hills or at other spots where it is unsafe to pick up or drop off passengers, as well as the planned detours.
Winter blast welcomes WinSport
It said the sudden change in weather has helped WinSport kick off the skiing and snowboarding season after a dearth of snow earlier this season.
Snowmaking crews have been working hard to prepare the hill for a fantastic opening day following a much-anticipated cold snap.
Despite Mother Nature’s best efforts, new snow came in this week and even colder temperatures are forecast for the next week.”
